Telling stories with imagination.

About

The director/designer duo Poppy Burton-Morgan & William Reynolds started up Metta Theatre in 2005. In 2009 they were joined by Producer Heather Doole.
We’ve had the great privilege of working with some very lovely and very amazing venues/companies over the years, including the Young Vic Theatre, Southbank Centre, Oxford Playhouse, V&A Museum, Shunt, Greenwich Theatre, Jacksons Lane, Southwark Playhouse, Arcola Theatre, Jerwood Space and Linbury Theatre (Royal Opera House).
We make beautiful, imaginative & compelling theatre, using all the story-telling tools at our disposal – including words, music, projection, puppetry and circus. We’re all about creating meta-theatrical works – telling stories that include the audience in the act of telling. We like to be transparent in our productions, acknowledging the pupetteers behind our puppets, showing costume changes on-stage or having the performers make soundscapes in front of your eyes. In a nutshell we make theatre that wears its theatricality on its sleeve.
It’s not just the work we make that matters to us though – we also care passionately about making it responsibly. The impact we have on the world around us, and the people in it, are vitally important – so we make sure we always think about what we do, how we do it, and what the work itself says to the world around us.
